Sue Ann Hong-Whitaker joined the Center for Asian Pacific American Women (CAPAW) in May 2018 as the interim Executive Director. As of January 2020, she was named the President & CEO. She is part of the Asian Pacific American Women’s Leadership Institute (APAWLI) class of 2001-2002. Her career was with State Farm Insurance Companies for over 28 years, including Data Processing, Diversity & Inclusion, Corporate Business & Technology Portfolio Management and P&C Auto Claims. She’s led up to 600 employees in multiple locations, managed 1000 contract employees and supported customers and State Farm agents in 23 states. She’s worked in various locations, including MI, IL, NY and GA.
Sue Ann leads as the Chair for the National Diversity Advisory Council (NDAC) for the American Red Cross and serves as a member of the Executive Council for AARP GA. Sue Ann also works on several Advisory Boards including for Asia Society So Cal and Make-Us-Visible. As a certified coach through the Life Purpose Institute, she is passionate about developing people and supporting them to achieve their dreams in career and life. In 2024, Sue Ann was an honoree at the LEDI International Life Changers Awards and received a Commendation by the Governor of the State of GA. She also received the Diversity MBA Media Top 25 Outstanding Leadership & Diversity Impact Award.
Sue Ann lives in Atlanta, GA with her husband Dr. Xavier Whitaker and her stepchildren Trenton, Elizabeth and Sophia…. and Dora Bear, their family Yorkie.
